Inventory > Matrix Items > Managing Matrix Children

Matrix children are individual items within your inventory. Each with its own quantities and sales histories. When editing a matrix child the following additional fields are available on the bottom of the General tab:

1.Matrix Parent Name.

2.Matrix Def (Parent).

3.Dimension 1 (Name).

4.Dimension 2 (Name).

This allows you to change the Matrix Dimension dimension element associated with a particular child, remove an item from a matrix parent item, and associate the item with another matrix parent. This can be useful when you have made a change to a Matrix definition or simply made a mistake and "orphaned" a child.

Removing Matrix Parents associated with a Child Item

To remove the matrix parent associated with a child, simply set all matrix definitions in the dimension dropdown list to -- None -- and then save the item. You will then be asked to confirm that you want to remove this item from the matrix group.

Changing associated Dimensions for a Child Item

To change the dimensions associated with a particular child item, simply find the item in the Inventory Manager, modify it and on the General tab, select the new matrix dimensions you want for the item.

Adding a non-matrix item to an existing matrix.

To add a non-matrix item to a matrix:

1.Modify the Item and press Ctrl-Alt-X.

2.Find and select the Matrix Parent you want to associate with the item.

3.Select the Dimensions you want to associate with the item. These dimensions have to be unique and not other item can be already assigned to these dimensions.

4.Press Save.
