Add shipping to sale?

We ship UPS and I need to be able to put the UPS in as a department/item but with varied prices for each package, how would I go about doing so?

What are you trying to do? If you setup a department SKU for UPS and put it in at a $0.00 cost and $0.00 selling price, RetailEdge will ask you for the price of the item on the sales screen and popup a screen to allow you to quickly do this. The price of the item for the sale will be calculated from the Average margin for the department you are selling from.

The problem I have run into which I can't figure out an answer for is that when I put in the UPS shipment as a stock number with a $0.00 cost it shows the total of the shipment as pure profit. Which it's not.

Some costs range from $4.50 to $200 for shipments. Can we think of a way around this?

What is the Stock Type of the item you entered? Have you tried using type Freight? The Closing Report does not include Freight type items in the profit calculation.

That said, there can be some confusion when comparing the closing report to other sales reports. As mentioned above, the closing report does not include the freight items. Some sales reports do. We do this so that you have the opportunity to see sales of all items, whether standard items or specialty items, in a report format.

If you do not want freight type items in the sales reports, you can filter them out. You can do this by adding a Stock Type filter to your report. Select the Stock Type filter, uncheck Freight, and then Add the filter to the Current Filters list. The subsequent report will leave out the freight items.

Thanks Andy, I'll try that today and see if I can get it working right with today's reports.

We just want to have an as close to accurate reading as we can get on the daily cost/profit totals, etc.
