I Backup to a cd-rw drive. For the past couple of days I recieved the following message: ERROR WHILE ATTEMTING BACKUP. COULD NOT RETRIEVE BACKUP FILES FROM SERVER." Everything else was working fine. I decided to check the CD drive. it was full. Deleting old backups fixed the problem.
In 7.5 and previous versions you would get a message about the destination disk was full please insert a new disk. So if you get a backup error check your backup media.

Thanks for the tip. I've added a suggestion to our tracking systems to provide a better error message (and to possibly test target drive capacity as well).
