A number of customers have had problems viewing the information in the customer, inventory and sales manager screens. These screens in an effort to minimize the amount of data that is transferred when viewing these managers, only transfer and load about 100 records above and below the highlighted record. This allows RetailEdge to display information faster especially with slower internet connection and with users that have large databases.

This method of loading and displaying information can cause the scroll bars on the side of the grid to look as if it is in the middle of the data, when you might actually be viewing information at the beginning of the database. This also can cause delays in viewing the data when you get to the bottom of the currently loaded data and the manager needs to load the next set of records to be viewed.

There a few features of the managers that can be utilized that will help you navigate through these managers and get the information you need more quickly.

1. Use hot keys (control keys) to navigate through the managers. Using the Page Up and Page Down keys on the keyboard to move an entire page of information into the screen. Use Ctrl-Home and Ctrl-End keys to move quickly to the beginning and end of the entire customer or inventory file.

2. Use the search features.

a. RetailEdge will search and reorder the entire database based on search criteria. If you are in a particular field (column) and press CTRL-F or press the find button, RetailEdge will automatically search on the current field (column).
b. When you have selected a record from the search box, RetailEdge will automatically reorder the column alphabetically.
c. Use partial match searches where possible to save the amount of typing that you need to perform to start the search. For instance typing "PAN" will find "PAN" "PANT".
d. Using interior pattern matches will search on any instance of the search criteria anywhere in the column. Not using interior pattern matches searches only from the beginning. Be careful, when you search partially though. Searching on "A" will find any record that has any instance of "A" anywhere in the word. Depending on your database, this may return a large number of records and take a long time.

3. Use the filters. If you set a filter on a particular Vendor in Inventory, the Manager will only display inventory for this vendor. This can significantly reduce the amount of information being displayed and loaded and make using the Manager much easier to navigate.
