    Security/Manager approval at sales screen....

    by Jared » Fri Sep 14, 2007 4:05 pm

    Hello,

We have used retail edge 8.0 since it's release and we only have a couple of things we would like to see integrated into the system.

    1. When an employee who does not have a security high enough to discount an item during a sale tries to change a price, it currently just says you dont have ther permission. It would be nice if it would pop up a password screen so a manager could "approve" the discount. Many large chain stores work this way and it would help us a ton.
This would also be good to use when an employee puts an item as negative to return it. It would then ask for a managers approval or someone with a high enough security level to let it go through.

    2. It would be nice to see a report where we could see all sales for a period of time that were made by customers who have a tax exempt number.
Unless I'm wrong, when you run a report for non tax sales, it only runs the report for items that were actually "unchecked" in the sales screen on the tax box. When a customer pays that has a tax number in the misc. tab it does not un-check the tax box for you so I think it still puts that sale in the reports with "taxable" sales. This would help us when doing our taxes at the end of each month. If I am incorrect on this please let me know.

    3. I have called about this once before, but the guys could never figure it out. If I press the "inventory" square box tab at the top of the screen in 8.0 (not the word inventory, but the one with the picture), I can then click cancel in the password box 3 times and it will automatically let me into the inventory list w/o having to type in any password. I figured this out b/c I once clicked inventory and didn't mean to, so when I pushed cancel to get away from the password box it didn't cancel. I hit it two more times and it then just went to inventory anyway. It does this at both of my retail locations that are on a VPN tunnel style network so I know it isn't just one computer messing up. I have a total of 5 PC's on this network and they all do it. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Jared,

    1. This is a good suggestion. We will add it to the list.

    2. The way the sales tax reports work is when a customer is tax exempt RetailEdge will keep the default sales tax jurisdiction for the sale as defined by the Location Settings. The items added to the sale will have the Taxable status unchecked for the sale. So when you sell something to a tax exempt customer the sales of that item will show up for that particular sales tax jurisdiction in the sales tax report but will show that no sales tax was collected. This was changed in an earlier version. You should check to see that you are running the most current version (8.0.15).

    3. We can't recreate this here. This may have to do with the version you are running. If this continues with Version 8.0.15, let us know. Also be specific about what security actions levels you have set on viewing the inventory and also whether you have security and clerk tracking on or only security.

    Bill,
Thanks for the reply. I think I figured it out after all this time once I looked at my security settings for the inventory list. I had them set at 0. Once I changed them to any number it did not do that anymore.

I guess the only thing I would wander is why does it even pop up the box asking for user id information if you dont have a security setting for it? Or is that because I am tracking clerks? If you can just hit cancel 3 times and get out of that box then it honestly just shouldn't be there in my opinion.

Either way, I figured it out....Thanks for the info.
