Once you have determined that you are going to be using RetailEdge as your point of sale software, you have many different options for purchasing hardware.

1. Purchase any computer and then purchase the point of sale peripheral devices separately. RetailEdge will work on any computer and many RetailEdge users have existing computers that they would like to use for their point of sale terminal(s). 2. Purchase a complete system including a computer and peripheral devices. We have worked with Dell and POS-X to come up with complete point of sale systems that include a computer with all of the point of sale peripheral devices you need. The advantage of a complete system is that all of the hardware is purchased from and the technical support for all equipment is provide from a single source. Typically the support and warrantee periods are good and warrantees can include things like "spare in the air" replacements that will get you replacements in a couple of days. These type of service can be crucial to a retail operation.

Note: The Dell point of sale systems are built on the Optiplex line. The Optiplex line is typically more expensive than their Dimension line. Both the Optiplex and Dimension lines will run RetailEdge fine and we have existing customers using both. Both have their advantages. 3. Purchase a complete system from a Reseller in your area. Many resellers have access to computer systems and equipment and can not only provide you with the computer and point of sale equipment, but can assist you with the installation process. This can speed up and simplify your initial setup. In addition when setting up a multi-location installation a reseller is almost always going to required to assist you with internet access and router setup issues.
