Archiving Data in RetailEdge Point of Sale Software

To archive data in RetailEdge you should do the following:

    1. Make a backup of your RetailEdge data.

    2. Purge the data you want to archive. You can purge, Inventory, Customer, and Inventory Quantity files. These purges allow you purge your files by Last Action Date essentially getting rid of dead (with no activity) customers and inventory.

    3. Switch to another database in RetailEdge. To do this choose Settings|Server Connection from the Tools menu in RetailEdge. Type in the name of the database you want to use for your archive. You can use one of the standard databases or create a new database for your archived data. The names of the preintsalled databases are retailedgedata_demo and retailedge_train. The procedure for creating a new database, is described in the RetailEdge help file and the RetailEdge manual.

    4. Restore your data into the archive database you have chosen from the RetailEdge backup you made previously. This is done by choosing Backup|Restore from the Tools menu.

    5. Remember to switch back to your real database after this procedure.
