A way to track damaged products

by Little Mountain » Mon Dec 31, 2007 6:48 pm

sometimes it happens and we lose products due to damage.
Can we get a way to track this with retail edge? something that shows up on the reports at the end of the day/month/year so we can keep it all on track on the computer?

Or is there a way to do this now...?

What we recommend you do in RetailEdge is create a "damaged" Purchase Order. Add the items on the purchase order as a negative quantity and then receive this negative quantity and update your inventory, it will remove it from your inventory.

This is pretty typical for many types of businesses and can be used in many different ways. For instance, if you were a clothing store and you wear some of your inventory for marketing then you could create a "wear" PO or if you were a garden nursery and some of your items die during the season you could create a "chuck over the bank" PO.

You can create the PO at the beginning of the year and then continue to add to it during the year. Then at the end of the year print the PO to get a total amount of "damaged" items and then delete it when you don't need it anymore.

Sounds good, that's what I'll do.
