The 'Physical Inventory Report' currently lists the Stock Number and system generated RE 'Item ID' that generally isn't used for anything outside of RE at our store.

Almost everything in our system uses the SKU, usually on the back of the item, as a stock number. The 'Mfr Part Number' is usually on the front of an item, and it would help our folks doing a physical inventroy to find things quickly if the 'Physical Inventory Report' had an option to use the 'Mfr Part #' they can see, instead of the RE 'Item ID', on these reports.

Space is a big reason why we don't include more information on this report is room. We could flip this and make it landscape but then people would be complaining about the amount of paper wasted. What some users do that have part numbers that are important to them is have them built into the Stock Number or simply use the vendor or manufacturer part number as the SKU.

All of our inventory is bar coded with the complete SKU, so using Mft Part # as the Stock Number would slow things down at the register. The longest Mfr Part # in our inventory is 8 characters, so it didn't seem like that big a deal from a space perspective.

I guess I'm just looking for the OPTION to use another number, not that it be hard coded into the report.

And using landscape printing for reports in general could also be an option for those who prefer, or need, it.

It's just the RE Item ID currently used on these report print outs is meaningless to the temp's that come in to do inventory.
