Do Loyalty Dollars reset at the end of each year?

    by ryangeneral » Mon Jul 14, 2008 11:00 am

I have encountered an issue with the loyalty dollars of my customers. Several people have confronted us and stated that they definatly have reached the $250.00 needed to recieve $25.00 back (I post loyalty dollars at the end of each month). When it was investigated, it turned out that minus the 2 sales the woman had made before December 31st, she was just shy of $250.00.

Do loyalty dollars reset at the end of each year?

And if so, is there a way to prevent it from resetting?

No Loyalty Dollars do not automatically get reset at the end of each year. We can make an SQL statement available to you if you want to have balances and carry overs reset at a particular time.

There was a problem with the way loyalty $ get applied in earlier versions (current version 8.0.19). You might have experienced this especially since your loyalty $ criteria is very high.

We do have a fixer. It can be found here.

    ftp://ftp.highmeadow.com/pub/Support/Lo ... ryOver.exe

You can run the report and identify them or you can post in the carry overs manually. You will want to run it for each month that you have run a batch. You might want to do it manually because it will not take into account the fact that you might have run the manually adjusted some balances for some customers.

I have specifically encountered this, today as a matter of fact. A woman went to make a purchase, and said that she should have had loyalty dollars, having never gotten them before. I checked her sales total, it was 252.37, and our criteria is $25.00 given per $250.00 spent. She should have gotten loyalty dollars. After examining our pre-batch report (it said she had 122.47 qualifying sales), i did some addition, and found that sales in 2007 were 129.90, which meant that the loyalty dollars carryover had reset at the end of the year. This is a problem, because the smaller spenders will begin to notice it, especially since the end of the year is coming again.

Is there a way to change this? This is the second time i encountered it, and i had dismissed it the first time. This time i have confirmed it, and i would like to make sure to prevent any other complaints. (since i wasnt here today, the owner had to tell her to come back later, and i manually gave her loyalty dollars. Can anyone lend me some answers?
