I have tried unsuccessfully to run a customer address list so I can use it as a merge function with Word. When I try to run the report under Customer, Lists, Billing Address (or even under customer, label function)...the only address that appears in the report is the first name or first customer id number I enter. Am I doing something wrong? All I want to do is filter the list according to the names or id numbers I enter. How can I make this happen? What am I missing?

I am not sure what you are doing but here are somethings to try:

1. You might want to try a customer export. This will give you a CSV file that should be able to be mail merged into Word very easily. And once you have setup the merge template (in word), you can do it faster the second time.

2. The address report is only that. Addresses for particular customers. It will show the ID and not the name. So this is probably not the right report to run for your merge. Also if you export a report you are going to have the headers and footers put into the export and then for a merge you will have to strip them out.

3. Labels will export to a CSV and be formatted as labels usually so also probably not the right export for your merge.

A couple of other things that are helpful to keep in mind about filtering reports.

1. The RetailEdge filters are ANDs. This means when you say that you want custID = Jones and then add another filter say, CustID = SMITH, RetailEdge will look for any customers that have a CUSTID of Jones AND SMITH. Since you don't have any customers with CUSTID with both IDs, it would not export anything.

2. The filters are partial matches from the beginning of the field. So if you want to search on all customers with custID beginning with B, you would create a filter for CUSTID = B. This can be helpful for doing filters on things like ZIP codes to allow you to capture larger areas. If you want to Filter on a value within a field, like all CustIDs with O in the middle, you would use the SQL wildcard %. So you would add a filter for all CustID=%0.
