Is there a way to generate a coupon on a receipt, if the customer purchases either a certain item or from a certain department? What we were looking to do is if a customer bought a Bikini, then on their receipt a coupon would print showing there discount or special for purchasing that item or from that department. is this possible? We use the Star TSP thermal printers and I know how to add an image/coupon to the bottom of a receipt. Let me know what you think!

You guys are using the Stare Micronics TSP143. These printers have a utility in the driver that will allow you to add different coupons to the bottom of the receipts. You can either do this as a standard rotation or based on a certain word on the receipt. This is one of the great advantages to this printer.

Thanks this does work well and is a feature that we will be using! I have another question tho. How this works is that the printer prints a coupon/image etc.. when it sees a keyword on the receipt. I would have liked the keyword to be on of our departments, lets use bikinis for an example. I was wondering if there was a way that the Department information can be added to the Receipt options. I have the Detailed Item info checked but that just shows the Item# and the Stock #.

now I have found a workaround to get this to work for me, If the customer buys one of the items from that department, our cashier can add the word bikinis to the notes for that sale. But now I have to rely on the cashiers to remember to do this and I believe that they may miss some of these creating a problem with the customers. Any suggestions?

The notes is a good workaround and there's no other workaround that I can think of other than changing some of the information for your items. The two fields that we could manipulate for you are the stock number field and the description. If you need us to write an SQL to append the department code (DEP) to the end of the Description or to the Stock Number we would be happy to.
