    "Out of resources"

    by universalroots » Thu Nov 11, 2010 3:12 pm

    Hello,
I just encountered an error while trying to print a new PO.

RetailEdge has experienced an error. You might need to restart the application.

    11/11/2010 1:03:30 PM
    Location: Family Hydroponics
    RegID: 1
    Version: 8.1.13
    ProcName: "TForm_Main.GlobalException"
    ClassName: "EOutOfResources"
Message: "Not enough storage is available to process this command.

How do I fix this? Thanks!

Thank you for making us aware of this problem. We do have the ability to submit this problem directly to us through the program. This would be a better way to have us track this down for you. We are probably going to need more information from you before we can determine a solutions.

    1. If you restart the application are you able to print the PO?
    2. What other windows did you have open when you were running this report?

Also you guys are on a SMP (I think) and so should be upgrading to the latest version. You are running 8.1.13. The latest is 8.2.3.

Let me know what you find.

    Hi,
I have to restart any time there is an error; it wont let me do anything else if I do not. It does not allow me to print the PO. The only window open was for PO's; I chose the one I wanted directly from there and clicked "print PO". I do not know what we are on or how we upgrade; how do I find that out?

Also, I went ahead and submitted the error report through the system, FYI.

    One more question:

Does the report display correctly to screen or do you receive this error message after printing (from the preview screen)?

If the report does not preview correctly it might be that your settings are incorrect for your report printer. You can adjust these settings in Tools|Settings|Workstations. Modify the workstation settings and press the Report tab. This should be set to your regular windows printer. We have seen that if this is set to a label printer (for instance a Zebra barcode label printer) you might get this message. What RetailEdge is trying to do is display a purchase order on a large number of tiny labels and this could be thousands of pages which would take a lot of resources.

If you are previewing the report and it looks Ok and the problem is occurring on the actual report printing, then you should check to see that the report is making it to the print spooler alright. You can check this in your Windows settings.

Let me know how it goes.

I did notice you are not on a Silver SMP plan and so you would not be able to download the latest version. The SMP is a pretty affordable way of keeping your system updated with the latest features (only $5.00/month/workstation). You can find out the latest version features by going to the following forum topic.

The report does not show in the preview, it is just the grey window. When I try to exit the window the error message pops up. In order to exit that window I have to ctrl - alt - delete and end it in task manager. The printer settings have not been changed and the reports come up fine on my three other work stations.

If the report does not show up in previewer then the problem is the printer. You should double check your printer settings in the Reports tab. Actually click on the drop down list of available printers and make sure that you can select it. Another trick is to rename your printer in Windows (something that makes sense to you like "Real Printer") then go back into RetailEdge and select "Real Printer".

Make sure that you can actually print to that printer directly by doing a Windows test print. We have seen times where permissions effect which printer can be used.

The printer prints fine and it was in the drop down menu in settings. It is the same printer for all of the work stations and they work fine.

I guess at this point there is nothing I can do through the forum. I would recommend you call technical support. They will be able to log into that workstation and see what is going on.

Since you are not on a service plan obviously there would be a charge for this, but without seeing what is going on I don't have any other ideas.
