    Return by mail

    by Gallery 54 » Wed May 23, 2012 9:25 pm

A customer has sent back an item to be returned. She paid with a credit card. We are using Pay Pros for CC processing. Because she is not present for this return, I presume we need to key in credit card numbers to process this return, correct? Is there any other way to handle it?
    Thanks.

If a return is done on the same day before you close you can always void the transaction. However if you are accepting a return on another day after a close, then you need to return the items and enter the credit card information for the card that the funds will be returned to. If the card is not present then the only way to handle this is to manually key in the number and expiration date, etc. Under PCI security rules you are not allowed to store card track data and so there is no way to do a "virtual" swipe with a card not present.

    Hope this helps.
