    Non-Entered Items

    by mothersheart » Thu Nov 01, 2012 11:39 am

When an item is sold 'non-entered' how is the Gross Costs and in turn the Gross Profit calculated on the Sales Status Report? Also what comprises the Type Nonstock Sales field on the Sales Status Report? and finally what types of transactions are included in Number of Other Trans?

    Thanks

Good question. A non-entered item is an item that it not in your inventory and allows you to sell items that are not in your inventory quickly. But since you can sell an non-entered item with any price it is does present an issue when trying to calculate the cost of sales for these types of items. RetailEdge handles this in a couple of ways.

    1. If you select a department for the non-entered item RetailEdge will calculate the cost based on the average margin for the department. Average margins are something that needs to be set for each department.

    2. If you don't select a department then RetailEdge will use the average margin for the location the item is being sold out of. The average margin for the location can be found on the Register tab of the Location editor.

Non-stock sales show up on reports either as Stock Number ~Unassigned~ in the department selected or as ~Unassigned~ in an ~Unassigned~ department if no department is selected.

The Sales Status Report is essentially the same as a closing report but it does not give you the ability to post the transactions upon closing the report preview. Other Transactions on this report would typically be things that were not sales or voided transactions (i.e., account payment, credits issued manually, etc.). You can easily see this by opening the Sales Manager and scrolling through and looking at the Type Column.
