To close the REGISTER at the end of the night, just press the Close button on the Toolbar. RetailEdge will display a Closing Options screen that will allow you to either perform a Register Close or Complete Close. A register close will close out the current register sales session only and post sales for the current sales session while allowing sales from other registers to continue. Choose the Register Closing Option and press the OK button. RetailEdge will display a summary of the day's sales for the register. Press on the Print button or Save button to either print the register closing report or save the report to a file for future reference. Then press the Exit button to close the report. RetailEdge will then ask you if you want to post the sales. If you choose to post them, the register will be closed otherwise the register session will remain open. You can reopen the register after closing and allow another sales session to begin. At the end of the day you should also perform a COMPLETE Closing. A complete close will close out all registers and post sales for all registers and all sales sessions. This will post the day's sales to the transaction log and will provide you with a report of the day's sales for all registers. To perform a Complete Closing choose Register|Close|Complete from the Reports menu or press the Close button on the toolbar. Then choose Complete on the Closing Options screen. Note: You do not have to perform a register close in order to perform a complete close. However, you should perform a complete close every night, as this will move data to a history file and to make it available for Historical Sales Reports and Summary Sales Reports.
