    Unknown Initialization Error

    by Gallery 54 » Tue Jun 10, 2014 10:02 pm

I keep having a problem opening RE on my laptop. I get an "Unknown Initialization Error". I am running on Parallel's for Windows on a MAC. I called last time and you dialed in and fixed this problem but I find myself in the same situation again. Please advise on how I can correct this and fix permanently.
    Many thanks.

We run RetailEdge in this environment for the office, and I used to periodically get this error. Newer versions of Parallels have seemed to stabilize it. The issue from the last time was that the service needed to be restarted (maybe just closing the laptop does something to shut down the services?).

That being said it is pretty easy to do. In Windows, just go to the Start Menu and Run and type in services.msc. Then restart the RetailEdge_Server service. If this happens a lot you might want to edit the service and on the Recovery tab, set the Failures (First at First) to restart the service automatically. But then again you might want to watch it and see how many times it actually happens before you do this, so that you can get a feel for the frequency.

    Hope this helps.
