Please advise on the best way for us to implement scanning. Do you have advice on how to best generate all the initial bar code labels for all products already received and in stock?

Scanning barcode labels with RetailEdge is easy and you have lots of options. RetailEdge can print labels on standard Avery label sheets if you have limited needs or you can purchase a dedicated label printer and roll fed labels. I have listed some links below.

If you don't want to print labels and your manufacturers or vendors have UPC barcodes on the items, you can use these as well. Or you can use both.

If you want to print barcode labels the typical way would be to print out the number of labels for the quantity of items being received. This is done by just pushing the labels button on the Toolbar.

If you already have items in inventory you want to print labels for, just open the inventory manager, highlight the items and press the print labels button on the Manager form. This will allow you to select how many labels you want to print. By default it will be the number of items in your inventory, but you can print one of each which is useful if you are printing shelf labels.
