I'd like to find out how to prevent items that are already on backorder, at the vendor, from being reordered again the next time I create another po (based on min/max). I find that when I create a PO for a vendor while another is still open, I end up sending a po to the vendor even though I've ordered it the previous week but it's on backorder at the vendor. I then up buying the item twice.

That is a good question. RetailEdge will allow you to reorder based on 4 different minimums and maximums to allow for differences due to seasonality. When auto-generating a purchase order based on these minimums and maximums on the Reorder Filter screen, check "Include OnOrder Quantities in Calculation". This will deduct the amount of items already on other purchase orders from the calculation. So if you a maximum reorder of 3, and have 3 on order from the last min/max order, RetailEdge won't try to reorder any more, since they are already sitting on an existing purchase order.

Obviously this does not take care of the case where RetailEdge has 1 on backorder for this same item and you are doing auto-generated purchase orders. In that case RetailEdge would automatically try to re-order 2 more. In that case, we would recommend that you either modify the reorder maximums to 0 (this will prevent the item from being reordered at all. Or you could change the Vendor Part Number to something like BO-Part#. This would allow you to quickly see when you print the purchase order that the item should not be reordered. Just like any automatic reordering process you are going to probably have to go in and tweak the order quantities before you actually submit the purchase order.
