One of our venders has just done a complete change of their Item numbers. How can we edit the sku number and keep all the matrix items under it? I tried to edit one sku and it didn't move all the others to the new sku number. I don't want to have to retag hundreds of items with new item numbers and loose all the sales history that goes with them.

Changing a SKU on a matrix item will not populate out to the children. Some of the other fields will but not stock number. This is done because a number of people change their stock numbers to UPCs and having the parent overwrite this data could have devastating consequences.

But what you can do is use the new CSV Inventory Import function to map the new vendor item numbers to items in RetailEdge. You should first export your inventory for one item, then open the file in Excel and edit it and make the changes you want. Then import the file back in.

Since you are potentially changing the Stock Number which is one of the key lookup fields in RetailEdge, you will need to have UPC1, UPC2, Part Number - MFR, Part Number - Vendor fields populated in the items, so that you can properly map the changed Stock Numbers back to the correct items in the program.

Remember to choose the update replace existing records only option when importing the file. Otherwise you might a large number of new items. Also make a backup before doing any importing.
