Windows 10 has now been released. We are really excited about this new operating system and it allows out customers some really new and useful options for mobility. In addition many of our hardware vendors have been gearing up to use the new features of Windows 10 and have come up with some great new affordable POS system designs.
In addition, for customers who are using Mobile Islands and Multi-Location systems and have been using Hamachi, LogMeIn has released a new version of the program. Hopefully this will help rectify some of their VPN issues.
If not, I am including a thread from LogMeIn about how to potentially fix issues with Hamachi VPN issues that we received prior to the final release that might help some of you if you see some issues.
- Install Hamachi in the machine
- Stop service
- Open Device Manager, open Network Adapters
- Uninstall all LogMeIn Hamachi Virtual Ethernet Adapter (if any)
- Select root item (the topmost in the tree, name of the computer)
- Right click on it and select "Add legacy hardware”
- Click Next, then select „Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced), click Next twice
- Select "Show All Devices”, click Next
- Click "Have Disk...”, click „Browse”, search for C:\Program Files (x86)\LogMeIn Hamachi folder, click Open
- Select LogMeIn Hamachi Virtual Ethernet Adapter
- Click Next until it starts install the driver
- When the window similar to the picture is shown tick „Always trust....” and click "Install”
- After the installation completed rename the new virtual ethernet adapter to „Hamachi” in Control Panel/Network and Sharing Center/Change adapter settings
- Open the engine config location (C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\LogMeIn Hamachi)
- Append this line to the end of h2-engine.cfg:
Vpn.Reinstall 1
- Save it and restart service
When reinstalling Hamachi there are checkboxes to preserve your settings (IP address etc.). However contents of “C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local\LogMeIn Hamachi” can be copied out prior to uninstall and then these have to be pasted over the same files after Hamachi has been installed to reinstall Hamachi and preserve settings"
