Hi there,

We can't seem to modify open orders. The Order button remains greyed out, and pressing Save converts the open order into a Saved Sale.

What's the secret to modifying an open order and saving the changes made?

We are using Retail Edge version 8.0.13.

Fred,

No secret. RetailEdge allows you to create the open order by pressing the open order button. RetailEdge allows you to take no payments or full payment on the open order (e.g, a special order requiring a full deposit). Once you have created the open order, you can then modify the open order from the Open Order Manager. However, unlike the first step creating the open order, subsequent modifications to the open order require that you press the Post Sale (think about posting the payment). Even if you are not taking another payment you will need to press the Post Sale if you want to save changes made to an open order. RetailEdge will continue to post the sale back to the Open Order manager until the sale/order total equals the amount of the payments received. At this point RetailEdge will convert the Open Order to a sale, remove the inventory from the allocated inventory, delete the Open Order and post the sale.

Note: If you take a 100% deposit on the Open Order and modify it, pressing the Post Sale button will convert the Open Order into a sale (payments = items total).
