If the RetailEdge sales process is not as fast as you would like you can try all or some of the following:

1. Use the RetailEdge Hot Keys. When processing a sale using the RetailEdge Hot Keys will be much faster than using a mouse. Knowing these keys will speed up many of the RetailEdge sales functions (e.g., using the plus key for exact change on the Sales Screen Payment tab).

2. Use the Numeric Keypad. Typing in item numbers and quantities on the keyboard's numeric keypad will be much faster than using the numbers at the top of the QUERTY portion of the keyboard.

3. Change what is printed on a receipt. RetailEdge can tailor your receipts to include many different items. Removing some of these items can speed up printing receipts with slower printers.

4. Not displaying the receipt options. RetailEdge will print tape style receipts immediately after posting a sale if you don't have receipt options set to display each sale.

5. Purchase a tape style receipt printer. Tape style receipt printers will print customer receipts much faster than a regular Windows printer. Thermal receipt printers are typically greater than 10 times faster than an impact printer.

6. Process credit cards through the program. Processing credit cards through RetailEdge using an IP connection can significantly speed up the cash out process. It can reduce the processing time from approximately 7-8 seconds to 2 seconds. Also when a credit card is swiped through RetailEdge clerks do not have double enter the sales amount into a separate terminal.

7. Issue Customer Cards. Issuing customer cards with barcodes or magnetic strips on the back will speed up entering existing customer data on the Sales Screen.

8. Turn Sales Screen Action Levels to 0. If security is turned on, set the User Level for Sales Screen functions to 0. This will save time by not having the Clerk not have to enter a password for each sale.

9. Make Clerk IDs Numeric. If you are tracking Clerks on sales functions, it is much faster for the clerks enter a number on the numeric keypad than to have them type a name.
