The RetailEdge Application Programming Interface (API) allows you to communicate and share your RetailEdge data with remote systems and programs.   The API Server is hosted on our secure servers and uses JSON as its data interchange format.

 

The API is most commonly used to communicate with RetailEdge from a e-commerce site to:

 

1.post sales,

 

2.get inventory, and

 

3.provide real-time inventory quantities.

 

The API server "listens" for requests.  When it receives a request for information (like give me an quantity for item ABC), it sends a JSON response to the website and the website can then display this information.

 

The API Server is also used for a number other applications including systems that provide sales detail to vendors, create vendor payables (consignment), and provide information to retail management systems.
