RetailEdge allows you to email reports, receipts, purchase orders, transfer orders, etc. from the program using your own email client or service.  The information in this section tells RetailEdge which server and protocol to use for your emails.

 

RetailEdge can use SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) or an installed MAPI email client for sending receipts from your system.  If you select a MAPI client, when sending emails, your email client (program) will start with the document attached to the email.  

 

The SMTP method does not require you to install an e-mail client on your computer and you can use your web mail services (like Gmail) to send e-mails. RetailEdge will need the following information about your Email Server in order to send out e-mails.

 

SMTP Outgoing Server: The name of the mail server you are using (e.g., smtp.gmail.com).

 

SMTP Port (Ex: 465, 587, 25):  The port that server uses to communicate. The typical ones are 465, 587 and 25, but your mail server might use something different.

 

SMTP Server Username: Typically your email address.

 

SMTP Server Password: Typically your email login password but can be an application password that is generated for some webmail (e.g., Gmail).

 

SMTP From:  The from e-mail address you want the emails to come from.

 

Email Signature (SMTP Option):  This is the signature that will, by default, be used for your RetailEdge emails.

 

Send Test Email button: Once you have filled in all the appropriate information, you should test your settings by pressing the Send Test Email button. If you have all your settings entered correctly you will receive a successful message

 

If you have trouble with these options, you should contact with your e-mail service provider.  They should be able to give you the information to fill out the information for these fields.
