Workstation Name: Workstation identifier for reports and receipts.  In a multi-location environment, the name should be unique so as to avoid confusion with other locations' workstations (e.g., Location 1 - Register 1).

 

For Location: The location the workstation will be operating from.  Controls what workstations can be accessed from which location in a multi-location environment.

 

Register ID: Numeric workstation identifier.  Must be unique for each workstation.

 

Workstation Security Mode. RetailEdge has two different security modes.  

 

Clerk Based (Shared Users).  When this option is selected, RetailEdge will prompt for username and password (if required) for every action performed in RetailEdge.  This can be especially useful for Sales functions if you have only one workstation and multiple sales clerks are accessing the terminal.  

 

Workstation Based (One User).  When this option is selected, RetailEdge will only prompt for username and password after there has been no activity for more than the amount of time specified by the Idle Lockout (mins) value.  Workstation mode can be useful for back office type operations or when the register is being used by only one clerk at a time.

 

These settings are only activated when the Location Security Settings are turned on.
