When creating inventory items, keep it simple.  RetailEdge allows you to store a  large amount of information with each inventory item.   However, there are only really 8 pieces of information that are required for each inventory item.  You should take some time before entering inventory and think about what information you really need to track.  Most of the time you can add information to inventory items at a later date as you determine you need it (i.e., classes, UPCs, Price Levels, etc.).   As your inventory needs become more complex you may have to strike a balance between an inventory that gives you a great deal of information about each item and how much time you want to spend entering and maintaining this data.
