The Modern Retail Application will allow you to push inventory items to and pull sales from any of the Modern Retail e-commerce sites they support (i.e., Woo Commerce, Big Commerce, Magento, etc.). Pressing the Modern Retail Application Tile will bring you to the Modern Retail application page.
Setting up the Modern Retail RECAP Application settings
On the Modern Retail RECAP Application Page, choose the Settings menu item. This will display the Modern Retail Settings page in RetailEdge. You will need to enter the following information:
Turn On Modern Retail? Checkbox. Enables the Edit Modern Retail Settings button to allow you to set the integration options below.
Modern Retail Server tab
MR Web Server (URL): This should be set to: https://retailedge.modernretail.com/services.aspx.
Store ID: Assigned by Modern Retail.
User Name: Assigned by Modern Retail.
Password: Assigned by Modern Retail.
Product Timer: The number of minutes between Product Requests (uploading Inventory Item information and quantities). This can be set to 0 if you want to perform the Product Requests manually.
Sales Timer: The number of minutes between Sales Requests (downloading Sales Information to RetailEdge). This can be set to 0 if you want to perform the Sales Requests manually.
Reset Last Product Request Date Checkbox: RetailEdge minimizes the amount of items being transmitted to Modern Retail based on the item's Last Action Date. Under rare circumstances due to server date differences items might be skipped. This allows you to reset the last product request date and should not be used unless there is a problem with items not showing up on your Modern Retail site.
RetailEdge Reference Fields tab
Reg ID: The Register ID that will be used for Modern Retail sales posted into RetailEdge. Typically this would be the same ID as the Workstation Setting you are using. However in order to differentiate your web sales from your in-store sales it can be useful to create a separate register in your database and use this workstation ID for sales posting.
Clerk ID: The Clerk ID assigned to the sales from Modern Retail. You don't need to assign a Clerk ID to sales if you are not tracking clerk sales in RetailEdge, but it can be helpful for future reporting purposes.
Promotion Code: To help you better track sales in RetailEdge you can assign a promotion code to the Modern Retail sales. This can help you track the effectiveness of web promotions.
Export Filter Field: RetailEdge uses values placed in the Export/Report Code or User Fields 1-5 to determine which items are to be uploaded to the Modern Retail site. You can use any one of these fields. These fields are filterable in RetailEdge's inventory Manager and reports to allow you to easily see which items in your inventory are designated to be uploaded to Modern Retail.
Filter Value: This is the value that you have placed in the Export Filter Field in your RetailEdge inventory above to designate it as an item to be uploaded to Modern Retail (i.e., WEB, MR, W, etc.)
MR Web Price: RetailEdge will upload the price level specified in the this price field (RetailEdge Price Was – 5) to update the normal selling price of an item on the web.
MR Web Sale Price: RetailEdge will upload the price level specified in the this price field (RetailEdge Price Was – 5) to update the sale price of an item on the web.
MR Web MSRP: RetailEdge will upload the price level specified in the this price field (RetailEdge Price Was – 5) to update the MSRP price of an item on the web.
Shipping Stock #: This is the Stock Number of the item that you use for shipping in RetailEdge. RetailEdge will use this Stock Number for shipping on Imported Modern Retail sales.
Coupon/Discount SKU: This is the Stock Number of the item you use for coupons in RetailEdge. RetailEdge will use this Stock Number for coupons used on imported Modern Retail sales.
Sales Date Options: Today's Date or MR Sale Date. This allows you to choose the sale date for the Modern Retail sale as it is posted into RetailEdge. Since sales are not processed (credit cards or available to be downloaded to RetailEdge) until they are marked as Shipped in the Modern Retail Store Manager, you might not want to use the Modern Retail sale date for the date that gets posted in RetailEdge as this can make credit card reconciliation more difficult.
Note: RetailEdge can accept sales with items that are not in RetailEdge's inventory. These sale items are imported as non-stock items. RetailEdge uses the Default Margin setting to calculate the cost of the item.
RetailEdge Payment Methods Mapping tab
This allows you to map the Payment Type from your Modern Retail sales to RetailEdge Payment Types. You might want to map your VISA Modern Retail payments to MC/VI in RetailEdge. Or you might create a payment method called MR-PMT in RetailEdge and have all your Modern Retail Payments map to this one RetailEdge payment method. This will allow you to better differentiate the payment methods at the end of the day and reconcile your drawer.
Product Request Locations Tab
This allows you to select which locations in a multi-location business are going to be used for inventory quantities on your website. Many times users will use all quantities from all locations on their e-commerce site. Other times they will show only the location where fulfillment will be done to make it easier to fulfill the orders.
Running the Modern Retail Integration
The buttons on the main RECAP Modern Retail page, allow you to manually Import Orders into RetailEdge, Export RetailEdge items, Import Orders AND Export Items, and Return to the RECAP Control Center. The integration will also run automatically based on the values entered in the Order and Product timer settings.
Viewing Logs and Errors
Each RetailEdge request and Modern Retail response are logged. These logs can be useful for troubleshooting problems The Logs can be viewed by choosing the View Logs menu item on the RECAP Modern Retail page.
Note: This application requires that you be subscribed to a Silver (updates plan) or Gold (Support and Updates plan) and there is a monthly fee for the integration. In addition we can provide you with additional training and setup if you would like. Please contact us to get additional details on pricing. In addition, Modern Retail has some fees associated with the integration. For additional information about the integration contact Modern Retail and/or visit their site.
