The Retail Planning RECAP application provides a way for a retailer to provide RetailEdge information to a retail planner. The application allows you to quickly map RetailEdge Departments and Classes to a retail planner's classes and RetailEdge's locations to different planning locations. RetailEdge then exports information about inventory levels, sales, on-orders, and discounts, etc. a retail planner needs in order to provide a retail plan for your business.
Setting Up
To setup the Retail Planning integration, choose General from the Retail Planning App Settings page and enter the required information on the tabs. You will want to coordinate with your retail planner before you get started. The export file format can be found on our Templates page here.
General
Client ID: To be provided by your retail planner.
MTC User: To be provided by your retail planner.
Return Code: RetailEdge can provide information about returns to vendor to your retail planner. This code is the value you have at the beginning of each RetailEdge Purchase Order that identifies the PO as a Return PO (e.g., RTV-).
Locations
This allows you to map different Building Codes provided by your retail planner to the different RetailEdge locations. This can be a different RetailEdge location for each planning building or you can map multiple RetailEdge locations to one planning building (location).
Class
This tab allows you map retail planning classes to multiple RetailEdge Departments and Classes. Care should be taken with mapping RetailEdge classes, since RetailEdge classes are optional and are not true sub categories of departments. So this may give unexpected results if you are not careful.
Schedule
Some retail planners want to have the export file generated on a daily schedule. If you want to do this, just check the Enable automatic exports? checkbox. You can schedule the export to happen at any hour of the of the day. The export will create a file in the location and with the name listed in the Filename box with the export date prepended to the file name (e.g., 2026-8-17_retail export.txt). This scheduled planning export, will create a file with data accumulated from the beginning of the current month. This allows the retail planner to have a data point for each day of the month if they need it.
The scheduled export only works when RetailEdge is running. However, if you miss days because RetailEdge was not running, on start up, RetailEdge will create a file for every day you missed. So if you start up RetailEdge on Monday and you missed Saturday and Sunday, the export will automatically create a Saturday and Sunday export file when it starts.
Manually Running the Retail Planning RECAP Application
Once you have set the Retail Planning mapping you can also run the utility manually by pressing the Export Retail Planning Data button on the application Home page. You will be asked to enter an Export Filename, Date Start and Date End. Pressing the Run Export button will create the planning export file for the date range selected. This can be useful if you want to provide multi-month sales analyses, single day information, or provide your planner with historical information about your business.
