Entering Serial Numbers

RetailEdge's inventory has the ability to track serial numbers.  You are not required to track serial numbers. but you can upon creation or receipt of inventory items, enter serial numbers for items.  You can also just enter serial numbers for items at the time of sale by pressing the F11 function key.

Entering Serial Numbers at the Time of Receipt

Creating serial numbers at the time of receipt:

1.Will give you detailed inventory information about what items and serial numbers are in your inventory. Keeping a record of inventory serial numbers is critical

2.Can speed up the sales process and minimize sales errors.

Entering Serial Numbers at the Time of Sale

Entering serial numbers at the time of sale might be more efficient because:

1.The vendor packaging may not make it so that the item's serial number is not easily accessible until it is sold.

2.When items are built to order the serial number may not have been created at the time of receipt (i.e., bicycles, computers, etc.).

3.You are only interested in tracking the serial numbers of items when they are sold so that a record can be provided for warranty if the product breaks or is stolen.
