RetailEdge has multiple sales screens. One traditional and another optimized for use with a touch screen system.
You can use either sales screen with a regular computer monitor using your mouse, however you might consider using the Touch Sales Screen when you:
1.Have a touch monitor.
2.Sell only a few items. The traditional Sales Screen is really optimized for selling many different items. The Touch Sales Screen allows you to display a list of 140 items that you can easily select from. Although the Touch Sales Screen allows you to scan items as well, it can really speed things up at the time of sale to display the commonly sold items or counter items that may not be individually tagged/labeled.
3.Have a workstation used to only for sales and don't need access to the other RetailEdge Management/Back-Office functionality.
4.Don't need to use more than one sales screen at a time (the traditional sales screen allows you to open multiple sales screens).
5.Need larger buttons and text that can be viewed more easily. The Touch Sales Screen has larger buttons and text to accommodate the touch functionality.
6.Don't need the traditional Sales Screen functions and views (reordering of sales screen lines, which can be useful for creating quotes or saved sales). Also, the touch payment screen has been optimized for a touch environment and so you must either have a touch screen or use the mouse.
