Sometimes it is useful to correct a sale when the wrong item has been sold or when the wrong payment method was used. If you want to correct your sales history for a posted sale:
Unposted (Unclosed) Sales
| 1. | Find the original sale in the Sales Manager by pressing the Sales Mgr button on the Toolbar or by pressing Ctrl-M. |
| 2. | Search for the sale you need to correct and press the Void button. |
| 3. | Then press the Copy Sale button. This will copy all of the sale information into the Sales Screen. |
| 4. | Make the appropriate changes to the sale (i.e., sell the proper items, use the proper payment method, etc.) and post the sale. |
Posted (Closed) Sales
| 1. | Find the original sale in the Sales Manager by pressing the Sales Mgr button on the Toolbar or by pressing Ctrl-M. |
| 2. | Press the Copy Sale button. This will copy all of the sale information into the Sales Screen. |
| 3. | Remove the correctly sold items from the Sales Screen |
| 4. | Put a negative quantity for the items that were incorrectly sold (by pressing Ctrl-N), |
| 5. | Add the correct items to the sale. |
| 6. | Post the sale. |
Note: If only one or two items on the sale are incorrect, it might be easier to just exchange the items.
If you correct a Posted Sale, the sale date for that item will be shown as the date the correction was made.
For Layaways or Open Orders
| 1. | Find the Layaway or Open Order in the Sales Manager by pressing the Sales Mgr button on the Toolbar or by pressing Ctrl-M and selecting Open Orders or Layaways from the drop down box. |
| 2. | Search for the sale you need to correct and press the appropriate Cancel button. |
| 3. | RetailEdge will ask you if you would like to return the customer's money. |
| 4. | Choose Yes and return the money to the customer's store credit. |
| 5. | Then reenter the Sale. On the Payment Tab of the Sales Screen press the Order or Layaway button and convert the sale to a layaway or order. When you post the sale, use the customer's credit as the payment method. |
Note: You cannot void a completed Layaway or Open Order.
