Aliases are useful if you want to associate a simple identifier to a number of similar items. For instance if you have a number of different Gift Card items (G10, G25, G50, G100 etc.) in your inventory, and you associate an alias of G to the items, when you type in G on the Sales Screen RetailEdge will display a list of all Gift Cards in your inventory and allow you choose the one you are selling. Aliases can also be useful as an alternative lookup for items when you are using UPCs as your product identifier. Care should be given when assigning aliases to avoid overlapping with other inventory items or package IDs. See Sales Screen Item Lookups
