To setup a new database:
1. | Create a new folder to hold the new database files. |
2. | Exit all workstations out of RetailEdge. |
3. | Create a new folder (e.g., REData_NewData) in the same folder that holds the RetailEdge data. (Typically the Server/Data folder located within the folder where the RetailEdge program is installed). |
4. | Copy all files from the ...\Server folder into the new folder. Note: Don't copy any *.LCK files. |
5. | From the Server folder, run the RetailEdge_Status program. |
6. | Choose Set Databases option from the Tools|Administration menu item |
7. | Add the new database. You'll need to provide a database name (e.g., New_RetailEdge_Database) and the Server Folder (..\Server\REData_NewData). |
8. | To connect to the new data in RetailEdge, open RetailEdge and then choose Settings|Server Connection from the Tools menu item. |
9. | Change the DBName to New_RetailEdge_Database. |
10. | Press the Save button. |
Note: Once you are connected to the new data you might want to change the company's description so that the program's title bar clearly indicates the data set (e.g., DIFFERENT DATABASE).
