RetailEdge can communicate and work with many different peripheral devices (cash drawers, barcode printers, receipt printers, display poles, barcode scanners, magnetic strip readers, barcode scanners and scales).   Before purchasing and setting up peripheral devices, check to see that RetailEdge supports the particular device.  RetailEdge supported devices can be found by choosing Devices from the Tools|Settings menu item.
