RetailEdge can support a number of different devices. Listed below are some of the supported device types and the connection type and drivers required.

Receipt Printers

•Full Page - Windows Printer: Windows driver from manufacturer.(Recommended)

•Tape Style - Windows Printer: Windows driver from manufacturer.(Recommended)

•Tape Style - Serial Port (COM1, COM2, etc.) : No driver required.(Recommended)

•Tape Style - Serial Via Windows Printer Driver: Parallel Printers. Windows Driver from manufacturer. On older models the Generic Text Only driver provided with Windows will work. (Recommended)

•Tape Style - Via OPOS Receipt Printer. Any Interface. OPOS driver and installation utility is provided by manufacturer. Driver utility will allow setup of OPOS ID and OPOS Name is necessary for RetailEdge to talk to the device.

Cash Drawers

•Driven by Receipt Printer: Receipt Printer Interface - Plugs directly into the back of the receipt printer with an RJ12 (looks like a phone jack). No driver needed. (Recommended)

•Serial Port(COM1, COM2, etc.): No driver required.(Recommended if not using a tape style receipt printer)

•Via Windows Printer: Can use a USB drawer however, a virtual serial driver is needed to allow cash drawer to be installed as a serial device.

•OPOS Cash Drawer. Any Interface. OPOS driver and installation utility is provided by manufacturer. Driver utility will allow setup of OPOS ID and OPOS Name is necessary for RetailEdge to talk to the device.

Barcode Scanners

•Keyboard Wedge. No driver required. Device has a "Y" cable that has PS2 keyboard connections on the ends. One end of the device plugs into the keyboard cable and the other plugs into the computer keyboard port. USB scanners can also be used if they install themselves as keyboard wedge devices.

Barcode Label Printers

•Parallel printers. Windows Driver from manufacturer. Setup will also require setting label sizes in the properties of the windows driver.

Magnetic Strip Card Readers (for credit card processing, gift cards and customer cards)

•Keyboard Wedge. No driver required. Device has a "Y" cable that has PS2 keyboard connections on the ends. One end of the device plugs into the keyboard cable and the other plugs into the computer keyboard port. USB readers can also be used if they install themselves as keyboard wedge devices.

Two-Line (Pole and Table) Displays

•Serial Port(COM1, COM2, etc.): No driver required. (Recommended)

•Via Windows Printer Driver: Parallel or USB Displays. Windows Driver from manufacturer.

•OPOS Display. Any Interface. OPOS driver and installation utility is provided by manufacturer. Driver utility will allow setup of OPOS ID and OPOS Name is necessary for RetailEdge to talk to the device.

Customer Displays

•Secondary display monitors supported by Windows.

Scales

•Serial Port(COM1, COM2, etc.): No driver required. (Recommended)

•Via Windows Printer Driver: Parallel or USB Displays. Windows Driver from manufacturer.
