You can easily copy existing inventory item information into a new item when receiving items or adding items to a Purchase Order. To do this:
| 1. | Display the Edit Purchase Order Items tab or Receiving List. |
| 2. | Press the Add button. |
| 3. | a. If the Quick Lookups? checkbox on the lower right hand side of the screen is checked: Type in the Stock Number of an existing item. If the Quick Lookups? checkbox on the lower right hand side of the screen is checked, RetailEdge will perform an incremental search of the inventory while you are typing in the Stock Number. If an existing Stock Number or Item ID is found, RetailEdge will fill the Item Editor screen with all of the item's inventory information. b. If the Quick Lookups? checkbox on the lower right hand side of the screen is NOT checked: After typing in the Stock Number of the existing item you want to copy, press the Enter key. This will load this item's information into the Item Editor screen. |
| 4. | Once the existing item information has been displayed on the screen, change the Stock Number. You will see the Information in the Information Panel on the right side change to N/A indicating that you are now working on a new item. |
| 5. | Make any changes to pricing etc. |
| 6. | Press the Save button. |
This will create a new item.
Caution: You should be careful to when performing this operation. If the Information Panel does not change to N/A you are working on the existing item. This operation is only available when you press the Add button. If you are modifying an item (pressing the Modify Button), this Copy function is not available.
Note: Sometimes it is not desirable to have RetailEdge incrementally search for an item in your inventory. For instance if you are scanning in UPCs or using all-numeric stock numbers, RetailEdge can find an item that you might not want to copy information from. And incremental searches on large databases can be slow. In this case you should uncheck the Quick Lookups? checkbox.
