The RetailEdge client uses ports 12005 and 12006 to communicate with the server.  In a network environment you will need to setup your firewall software or hardware to allow other computers access to these ports.

 

If you are operating a going to be performing RetailEdge backups you will also need to open ports 12007 and 12008.
