RetailEdge has worked with international businesses for a long time. So we have had to operate in countries that have removed their lowest denomination currency (one-cent, five cent, etc.). With RetailEdge’s Automatic Rounding feature if your country removes their lowest denomination coin like the penny you don’t have to worry.
Setting Up Rounding #
If you’re country does not have a penny, since all of the currency values come from your Windows Regional Settings, you would need to set up your location to have automatic rounding.
To do this:
1. Modify your location, by choosing Locations from the Tools | Settings menu item, selecting your location and pressing the Modify Button.
2. On the Register page select Sales – Enable Automatic Rounding. Then enter a value to Round to Nearest. If you don’t have pennies you would enter 0.05
3. In some locations, rounding is done only on cash sales. If this is the case in your area, check the box for Cash Only (Ignore Other Payment Types)
4. Then Press Save.
Rounding on the Payment Screen #
Now when you are on the payment screen in RetailEdge, you will see a Rounded Due Line, in the panel that displays the Sales Totals. This is the amount required to complete the sale.
Rounding Adjustments in Sales Manager and Closing Reports #
Rounding adjustments will show up in the payments for the sale as a ROUNDING payment method and show up on the closing report as a Non-Sales Adjustment To make sure the totals balance. Usually at the end of the day, these negative and positive adjustments balance and the total adjustment is very small.
