Introduction #

This guide will go over how to link a non Matrix item to a Matrix Parent item. This is useful for users whom want to group items on Web platforms like Shopify as they use the Matrix dimensional values as their Variant value , enable ordering from a Matrix Parent item or want to manage children items from a Matrix Parent.

* You can skip this step if you are already using the Matrix feature in RetailEdge.

Step 2: Create a Matrix Parent item #

Create a new SKU in RetailEdge as you would normally do but on the General Option, in the drop down select the Matrix Definition drop down and select the Matrix Definition created in step 2.

* If you already have a matrix parent item that you want to link items to you can skip this step.

*Do not create any Matrix Children Items from this Matrix Parent Item.

Step 3: Select and Modify the Inventory item you want to Link to the Matrix Parent item #

Step 4: On the Edit Inventory screen, General screen Press “Ctrl Alt X” . This will open the Find Items Window. Search for the Matrix Parent item from Step 2, Hit OK: #

You will then see a confirmation screen, hit Yes.

Step 5: Add the Matrix Dimensional Values to the item on the Edit Inventory Screen, General Option: #

Once Done hit Save:

Rinse and Repeat Steps 3, 4 and 5 as needed.
