How It Works #

If you purchase products by the case but sell them individually, RetailEdge can calculate when to reorder cases based on the individual item’s minimum and maximum levels. It evaluates your inventory and can automatically add cases to a purchase order if needed.

This also works with multiple packaging levels, such as singles, six-packs, and full cases.

What Triggers Automatic Case Reordering? #

RetailEdge combines all related quantities—individual items, packs, and cases (converted into individual units)—and compares the total to the item’s minimum and maximum levels.

A reorder is triggered when the total quantity (in individual units) falls below the item’s minimum level.

In most setups, minimum and maximum values would be based on case quantities. For example, if a case contains 12 units, you might set:

• Minimum: 12 (1 case)
• Maximum: 48 (4 cases)

However, you can adjust these values based on your inventory strategy. For instance, if you only want to stock one case at a time, you might set:

• Minimum: 2 (triggers reorder when you drop to 1)
• Maximum: 12 (orders 1 case)

• Result: Needs 11 units → rounded up to 1 case
